This is my variation of the well-known Fairbairn Sykes dagger. It came out a little larger with the blade being 25 mm x 184 mm, while the 3rd pattern replica I have is around 22 mm x 177 mm. It is lighter at 200 grams compared to 225 grams of the replica, but due to the handle being made out of wood instead of steel the balance point is located more towards the guard than I would have liked (it balances at the first handle groove, while the replica has its balance point about 1 cm further towards the end of the handle). So as a result the 3rd pattern replica actually feels lighter in hand. A solution to the balancing problem could be making the pommel larger, guard smaller (my guard is a fair bit larger than the original), and maybe making a smaller ricasso.

Nevertheless, I am happy with this one.

Steel is Sleipner steel, 6 mm thick. Handle is Palisander Santos, stainless steel hardware.
